Project Proposal

After starting my research for project 4, I have decided to change my topic. Although it has been suggested not to do this, it was about impossible to find any scholarly sources on my argument that would help me stand my ground and make for a strong paper. I have decided to write about how American citizens' fourth amendment rights are slowly being taken away.

Obviously the bill of rights was written long ago and serves the purpose of protecting citizens from the power of government. The fourth amendment was written to ensure the right to privacy inside of ones home and personal business. This has become a very hard law to follow with all of the technology that we have and use today. Some are against and some are for, but I think everyone agrees that the fourth amendment has been voided. Has the line been crossed?

This up and coming issue is a serious one that needs to soon be addressed. A breech of privacy is so easy with today's technology. Government is starting to require access to personal emails for example. Hillary Clinton recently had to reveal hundreds of pages of her personal email. Even if you refuse, don't think for a second that they can't easily obtain them on their own against your will.

Another strong topic regarding our right to privacy is the use of drones. The government and military have drones that they can fly any where and spy. There could be a drone flying in your backyard if the government wanted there to be one. The drones film and send footage back to the controllers. Drones can also shoot weapons. In other words, an individual suspected of terrorism could walk outside to grab his daily newspaper and executed in his front yard. The power of drones is really unknown.

Obviously I am arguing against the exploitation of our rights. I believe many of the actions taken by some of the higher-ups are definitely crossing the line. Also with this topic, I will be able to find more than enough scholarly sources to produce an concise, strong argument.

Here are a few sources I have found related to my argument:
